Zoids Core Box
The Zoids Core Box
(ゾイドコアボックス) was a limited-edition box set of new and reissued products,
released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Zoids line in Japan.
It was produced by Shogakukan
and sold through web store Zoidscore.com
on the 24th of October 2003, with only 10,000 units released. See below
for further details on the contents.
● Mammoth reissue ---
An almost perfect reproduction of the OJR Mammoth model kit (originally
released in 1983) with box
art recreated using computer graphics. All other Core Box
contents
were contained in a smaller silver box, also labeled "Zoids Core Box".
● Special Liner Notes ---
A fold-out pamphlet containing a message from manga artist Michirou
Ueyama, along with descriptions and credits for the other Core Box
contents.
● Battle Story reissues ---
Almost perfect reproductions of Shogakukan's Zoids Battle
Story
series, five books originally released between 1987 and 1990 which
depicted the Central Continent War and Intercontinental War between ZAC
2030 and ZAC 2054.
● The Avenge of Proitzen ---
A newly-made book describing the uprising of Gunther Prozen and the Neo
Zenebas Empire. Despite being labelled as a "side-story", it follows
on directly from Zoids Official Fan Book 3, and was
rereleased with additional content in 2004 as Zoids Official
Fan Book 4.
● The Zoids Bible ---
A newly-made set of 35 B5-sized cards, which describe the origins of
Planet Zi, Zoids, Zoidians and the Central Continent War in great
detail. A heavily abbreviated version was shown on huge wall panels at
the 2003 Big Zoids Expo, and almost all of the contents were reprinted
in the Monthly Zoids Graphics booklets from 2007 to 2008.
● Perfect Visual Clips ---
A DVD of promotional footage from 1983 to 1989, including Zoids
World, Zoids Battle Video
and several TV commercials. Most of the contents were posted to a
Youtube playlist by Takara Tomy in 2013 and 2014.
● Faction insignia pins ---
A set of three metallic lapel pins, showing the (pre-Grade Up) OJR
insignia of the Helic Republic, Zenebas Empire and Guylos Empire.
