Hobby Japan

Hobby Japan (月刊ホビージャパン) is a long-running Japanese monthly magazine that has been published by Hobby Japan Co., Ltd. since 1969, mainly focusing on tabletop games, plastic models and figurines. During the OJR, although Zoids stories appeared in the spinoff magazines Hobby Japan Mark1 and Hobby Japan EX, their only appearance in the monthly magazine beyond a few advertisements was a one-off story as part of the Battle Zone short story collection in 1986. However, after the 1999 Zoids revival, most issues of Hobby Japan featured the line to some extent. Like Dengeki Hobby Magazine, the issue for a particular 'month' is usually released on the 25th day of the second month before it - for instance, the issue sold on the 25th of November, 2005, was branded as the 'January 2006' issue. All months and years listed below refer to the issue rather than the actual sale date.
Apart from customs and information about upcoming products, the main feature in Hobby Japan was titled Zoids Battle Angle. Part 1 (Apr '05 to Jan '06) followed a group of mercenaries attempting to recover stolen ZOITEC cargo, revealing some additional details about the Fuzors universe. Part 2 (Feb '06 to Aug '06) revolved around a stolen ZOITEC prototype, and contained several links between the settings of Fuzors and Genesis. Finally, Part 3 (Sep '06 to Jun '07) focused on custom Zoids from History of Zoids (1985) and the surrounding time periods. Hobby Japan also published the Zoids Concept Art (2010~2013) book series as well as Zoids Highend Master File (2014), an anthology of customs featured in the magazine.
