THOUGHTS ON ANCIENT GROUPS:

The Origins of Zoidians
Some possibilities:
"Pure Zoidian" - evolved naturally on Zi, cannot breed with humans
"Pure Human" - descendants of human colonists (probably via time-travel)
"Uplifted" - Zi life-forms bioengineered into humanoid form, possibly via human DNA

Children of Heaven
Theme colours: "good" - white, silver, blue
Appearance: White to pale pink skin, theme colour hair (esp. silver), usually grey eyes
Live in flying vessels and on mountaintops - Mount Olympus
Prioritise enhancing people - enhanced thinking/reflexes, telepathy, water detection
Ancestors of God Tribe (possible influence on Sand and Bird Tribes?)

Children of Earth
Theme colours: "evil" - black, brown, red
Appearance: Tan to red-brown skin, theme colour hair (esp. red), usually red-brown eyes
Live underground, especially near volcanic areas - Garil Ruins, "dome cities"?
Prioritise enhancing Zoids - Organoid System/Interfaces, ZOS, core fusion, Corenoids?
Ancestors of Earth Tribe (probable influence on Fire Tribe)

Children of Water
Theme colours: "water" - green, blue, purple
Appearance: Pale blue skin, black hair, blue eyes
Live in/near water, including underwater cities
Prioritise safety - scientific but use more "natural" tech, inquisitive but secretive
Ancestors of Sea Tribe (possible influence on Wind Tribe?)

Wanderers
Theme colours: "land" - yellow, orange, green
Appearance: Light tan to dark brown skin, usually grey to black hair, varying eyes
Live in flat areas (plains/deserts/forests/wetlands etc.), move around a lot
The "normal", majority, non-Children group - significantly lower tech than Children
Potential ancestors of most tribes, especially Insect, Fire, Sand and maybe Bird

HISTORY OF ZOITEC

In the early 2030s, a group of humans from the Globally III decided that they wished to build a new home in safety, far from the growing dangers of the Central Continent War. After much discussion with each other and with the citizens of the Helic Republic, they decided to set sail in a large aquatic Zoid, aiming away from the aggressive Dark Continent and towards the mysterious Eastern Continent. At that time, little was known of the Eastern Continent due to its natural defences, including long reefs, high sea cliffs and dense jungles. The few scouting parties that had made any progress had been chased off by the native tribes, who possessed both gunpowder weaponry and an intimate knowledge of the geography, and had no intention of being colonised. Fortunately, the human expedition managed to land in an area controlled by a relatively peaceful tribe, and were able to impress them with advanced technology such as water purifiers and holographic video players. With the help of this tribe, they were able to create a small settlement protected by trained Wild Zoids and inhabited by both humans and Zoidians. The settlement was nicknamed "Blue Village" after the blue paint-like material that the wooden buildings were coated in to defend against fires.

As this village grew over time, so did its reputation as the home of a technologically-advanced yet pacifistic society. The villagers found a number of ore deposits within the territories of neighbouring tribes, and gained permission to establish mines at several of these sites. This allowed them to start manufacturing electronic equipment and power generators which they could then sell to the natives, further strengthening their position. Zoid-related technology became a particular strong point, as a few of the humans had been involved in remodelling the Helic Republic's Zoids before they left the Central Continent, and this eventually led to the founding of the Zoid technology development group known as ZOITEC. However, although ZOITEC depended on Zoids for large-scale construction and excavation, they tended to use tamed Wild Zoids more than "Combat Zoids" (Zoids with completely artificial bodies, like those used in the Central Continent War). This was partly due to the fact that because of their limited involvement with Combat Zoid creation, they did not have the technical know-how to build functional Combat Zoid bodies larger than MZ-class.

This became particularly problematic after the ecological collapse triggered by the Grand Catastrophe in ZAC 2056. Although Blue Village survived relatively unscathed, many of the local Wild Zoid species, especially the ones large enough to suit ZOITEC's purposes, became critically endangered or extinct due to the upheaval. This prompted ZOITEC to search for a way to create entirely artificial Zoids centred around artificial Zoid Cores, which would negate their need for Wild Zoids. They also desired an easier way of producing replacement parts for these artificial Zoids, since creating them on demand would lead to delays, but resources were too limited to create spares of every single part on every Zoid. Their research led to the invention of the Blox system, which used standardised parts that were compatible with various different Zoids and functions, as well as an artificial "Core Blox" that could be used in place of a real Zoid Core.
